Reading a verification
Every fact Genie holds carries how he knows it. Evidence tiers are never averaged into a score.
The tiers

| Observed | Read directly from the thing itself, just now |
| Reported | A system said so and nothing independent confirmed it |
| Inferred | Derived from other facts, with the derivation shown |
| Unreachable | Could not be established — not absent, and never zero |
Why they never average
A score blending observed and reported facts hides which is which, and the difference is the entire product. Forty-one green backup ticks where eight are merely reported is not the same estate as forty-one verified.
Reading a claim
Every figure on every surface clicks through to the evidence behind it. If it cannot resolve to a source, it does not render as a figure.
An honest empty beats a plausible number. Where Genie cannot establish something he says so and names what would establish it.
Unreachable in practice
A device that did not answer, an API that timed out, a credential that expired — all unreachable, all named, none reported as clean.
This applies to counts as well as states. A subnet that could not be swept does not contribute zero devices to a total.
