Comparison

A Kaseya and Datto alternative

The most common reasons MSPs look elsewhere are commercial rather than technical. Here is where we are genuinely different.

First, what they do well

Datto's backup products are strong and widely trusted, and the combined portfolio covers more ground than almost anyone. For a practice already standardised on it, the breadth is real.

High-watermark billing ended in December 2025. Until then an MSP who reached five hundred endpoints in March and dropped to four hundred by June kept paying for five hundred. It has been replaced with a committed minimum and variable consumption. We mention it because it is recent, and because it is why a flat per-asset price reads differently in 2026 than it did two years ago.

Where we are different

Contracts you can leave. Cancel from your account in one action. No auto-renewal window to miss, no notice period to calculate, no call.

A HOSTED PLATFORM their infrastructure wherever they host it inventories credentials, topology clientclientclient Everything they hold about your clients sits on infrastructure you do not control. SELF-HOSTED ten fields, signed YOUR HARDWARE your deployment the same data clientclientclient One thin line crosses the boundary, and you can read it before it goes. Both work. One of them you can audit yourself, and one of them you ask about.

Billing you can recompute. Every invoice shows the split — committed, variable, outstanding — and you can reproduce our number from your own signed record and the published rate. A figure only we can compute is a figure you will eventually dispute.

Billed on the 95th percentile, not the peak. Onboard forty machines for a migration and hand thirty back, and you pay for what you managed. The invoice shows what the peak would have cost.

Billing and contract friction is the most-cited reason MSPs leave a platform, and it is cited by owners and directors rather than technicians — the people who sign. We built the commercial side first for that reason.

The three that apply to every comparison on this site

  • Reconciliation. One data model means claimed state can be compared against verified state, continuously. A platform assembled from acquisitions structurally cannot do this — it is not effort, it is architecture.
  • Your data stays yours. Self-hosted, and we receive ten fields and a signature. Published in full and readable before it is sent.
  • AI is not metered. The model runs on your GPU. There is nothing for us to charge for, so nothing is gated.

And what we are not

Datto's backup depth is years ahead of anything we would build. We monitor and verify backups; we are not a backup product and we do not pretend to be.

The agent. A host that does not answer is unreachable, not zero latency; a disk that will not report SMART is unavailable, not ok. Forty-two declared verbs and what each refuses to fake.

There is no 24/7 line and no account manager. Support is email from the person who wrote the code, within published hours. Faster than most escalation paths and worse than a rota — and we would rather you knew which.
